What is Adobe Experience Platform Launch?

Adobe Experience Platform Launch is a new "next-gen" tag management solution. Like Adobe's other tag management product, Dynamic Tag Manager, Launch is based on the acquisition of Satellite from Search Discovery in 2013. But Launch is built to facilitate a more open, integrated marketing technology stack. Launch plays nicely with Adobe and non-Adobe products. It includes an open API and a catalog of extensions (like an app store of pre-built integrations to other platforms) so that data can flow across the user's marketing ecosystem.

For users of DTM who want to upgrade to Launch, Adobe offers the ability to redirect existing DTM embed codes to point to Launch by Adobe.

Adobe Experience allows for the stitching of data from all varying sources (Google Analytics, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.) that inform us of which levers to pull to make the UX better during the entire user journey. It may be a bit pricey but still worth the price tag in comparison to the business value it can drive.
  • Connecting different data sources into one.
  • Native mobile & web-app support.
  • Performance
  • Editing templates.
  • Customer support.
  • Lots of clicks to get something done. UI could be improved.
Although it's not the perfect all-in-one platform, Adobe Experience does provide more pros than cons. It's well suited for mid to large-sized organizations that have the budget for such a platform. It's not as well suited for smaller companies & start-ups who have a limited budget while also making quick iterations to find that product-market fit.

  • Higher conversion at integral points of the journey.
  • Engineering learning curve = higher onboarding cost.
  • Reusable components.
I think the UI has a lot of improvement opportunities. Overall, it seems to take 2-3 extra clicks to get what I need to be done. Considering that Adobe is a UX-focused organization, I was surprised to see the lack of UX in their own product offering. Having said that, the robustness of the platform still provides more value than other products that I have used in the past.
It does take some time for Adobe to get back to you with your support requests but when they do, they are very helpful.

We leverage the Adobe Experience Platform Launch platform to pull data from multiple sources. This tool has been helpful in pulling and aggregating data in ways we had struggled to in the past. We then use this data to inform us on the customer experience and we then make decisions based on that information to improve the experience.
  • Data aggregation
  • Data presentation
  • Native Mobile Support
  • User Interface
  • Load Times
  • Non standard use case implementation
This tool is likely going to be of most value to companies and individuals that want to make data driven customer experience solution implementation and improvement. It may be a less attractive solution if less focused on customer interactions and their experiences is the goal. An example I would provide for a company not likely to benefit from this would be utility providers.

  • Increased out data driven decision making
  • Increased data confidence
  • Increase data quality
We leverage a variety of Adobe owned tools inside of our marketing tech stack. Whether it be Adobe Marketo Engage or Adobe Experience platform Launch, they all are quality applications that make our day to day marketing operations easier and assist in strategic planning and my and our teams decision making process.
The user experience is definitely great. For someone who is already knowledgeable about the product, applications, our data, and our customer this tool is easy to pick up and leverage in an instant. For those less experienced at picking it up while also learning about its purpose, it can be a bit more challenging.
The support team is always quick to respond and makes a really reasonable effort to resolve issues when they arise. I am excited to see the different ways they continue to improve and support those that leverage the application. One note I would make is having dedicated training sessions routinely to discuss anything added through patch updates. This would be beneficial.

We use Launch to deploy analytics tools and vendor tags on our website. It is used by several people in our analytics and engineering teams, so Launch's granular user permissions feature comes in very handy. We are able to deploy analytics code and vendor tags outside of our release cycle, which is a major plus.
  • Granular user permissions.
  • Asynchronous deployment option.
  • Full control of code execution timing (wherever technically possible).
  • Documentation could be better.
  • It should be available to everyone, not just Adobe customers.
If you're an Adobe customer, especially Adobe Analytics, Launch should be your first choice. If you're not an Adobe customer, you should call them and tell [them] it should be available to everyone.

Native mobile app version was not available until very recently, so I can't evaluate it yet.
